Nude Mural

This is the naked mural that corresponded with my clothing optional wedding social.
It was a blast and a very popular attraction, next to me in a naked suit playing the bagpipes.

As you can see there was some concept drawings provided, originally it was just supposed to be some naked people but Beth wanted a Mardi-Gras theme so I drew up a Mardi-Gras street scene, then drew the naked people over top and voila.

All in all it took about a week to produce. Pretty impressive considering we were drawing and painting and building on our off time (10pm - 2am). Credit has to go to my Mom (Karen Gillespie) Joan MacDonald and Greg Warren who are responsible for the transportation and physical construction of the stand that held this puppy up.

The Best compliment I received on this piece is that two other socials requested it's use. Which is great cause we really had no idea what to do with it when the social was over.

Also Beth needs to get most of the Credit for the painting of the piece as she is much faster and better at painting than I am.

Skull Sketch

This is a page from my sketchbook I did a while back it keeps the skull theme going. I am finishing up a painting for the Art for Angels Auction. It has been a long haul. I have been painting on my off time for the last couple of weeks and I only really started to make progress last night. I will go hard again tonight and finish up before Saturday. Lots of fun but my next painting will be smaller. I'll post my concept and colour comp with the final piece when I am done.

Skull Egg! How was your weekend?

This is a random sketch I did at work and then went home and did a larger version in my sketchbook. I guess it's the easter egg of death. DEATH! Anyway, I went out to Festival this Saturday and it was great, lots of great Franco-Celtic music and some fantastic ice sculptures they even had an Asterix and Obelix one. It had dead boars and stacked roman helmets... Good times.

The Zombie Wars

Peter Nadolny who plays the character "Spook" in SpaceQuest is having a wedding social and asked me to do some artwork for the silent auction. Well actually my sister asked me but it works out to the fact that I did something. So here is the original sketch, half-way point, and final of the 5x7 water colour I did for him. I've been exposed to a lot of Zombie stuff lately and Peter plays a Zombie in the show so I did a Zombie themed piece.

Mask Concept

Here is the Mask concept I did on the bus over to Beth's friends house when we learned how to make masks. We still have not managed to get together to learn how to dye them. Why is it like a boxing match to get anything creative done. Everybody is so damn busy these days, myself included. What's wrong? How did this happen. I don't even have kids and I feel like there is no time in the day to get everything done. This problem has plagued me for some time. Maybe I should hook my TV back up watch "So you think you can dance" and forget about any of my worldly ambitions...

Hell No! Ain't gonna happen.

I do wish I had some more time to complete everything I want to though.

Oh Woe is me eh?

More stuff to post for you, plus some actually finished work coming soon.

Talya, Talya, Talya and Spook

These are some shots from the jan 28th show of SpaceQuest. I have been taking some glamour shots of the characters and I need two more one of spook and one of Sexbot the ones I got were a bit fuzzy. I need to remember to bring my tri-pod next show.

I am five pages into my graphic short story I think I have two or e three pages to go so I'll post some rough's and sketches when I'm finished the early stages.

I'm starting the early stages of a short animation I am working on with some friends. I will not make anything available until we are finished as far as that is concerned but I'm really looking forward to that.

Over and out.

But rest assured when I am done these projects I will post the final product and the process. Thank you all for your patience.

Sorry Smile

I have been very lax lately because I am putting together a wedding social with my future wife. It has been exhausting but worth it. Here is a little diddy to tide you over until I can get back into the swing of things.

Cheers,
James
